Gun violence has taken an enormous toll on the LGBTQ+ community; this moment is reminder gun violence is not only a queer community issues–it is a U.S. public health crisis.
“The news coming out of Colorado is saddening and deeply troubling–while we do not have all the details of what has transpired the LGBTQ+/queer community only need flash back six years ago when we were waking up to reports of the Pulse Night Club shooting that took 49 lives, left 53 wounded, and changed countless lives—which, at the time, was the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history” said Densil Porteous.
From the Pulse shooting to youth suicides and anti-trans violence across the country, our community has suffered terribly as a result of our nation’s imperfect laws aimed at curtailing gun violence.
