I am deeply honored to be named as one of the 10 finalists to fill the vacancy left by Councilmember Shayla Favor in representing District 7 on Columbus City Council. This opportunity represents the chance to continue building a Columbus where every resident feels heard, valued, and supported.

This is not the first time I’ve raised my hand to serve the people of Columbus. In December 2015, I submitted my name for consideration to fill the interim seat vacated by Eileen Y. Paley. I was honored to stand alongside leaders like Mitchell J. Brown (former Director of Public Safety for the City of Columbus, City Council member appointed 2016 and elected 2017) , Emmanuel V. Remy (current member of City Council appointed 2018 and elected 2019), Christopher L. Wyche (current member of City Council term started 2024)—each of whom has taken steps to help move Columbus forward.

Again, in December 2022, I stepped forward when Council President Pro Tempore Elizabeth Brown’s resignation left a vacancy–I was one of 8 finalist. While the appointment ultimately went to former Councilmember Mitchell J. Brown in January 2023, these experiences only strengthened my resolve to serve our community and work toward a brighter future for all its residents.

As a finalist for the interim council seat serving District 7, I remain committed to advocating for the vibrant and diverse neighborhoods that make this district so unique—from Franklinton to the University District, and from the Near East Side to Fifth by Northwest. Whether appointed or not, I am fully dedicated to running in the 2025 election to represent District 7.

My journey has always been about service, persistence, and community. I am grateful for this opportunity and look forward to participating in the public hearing on December 18, 2024.

Together, we can build a more inclusive Columbus that works for everyone.
