As we go to sleep/or are waking up, still awaiting final results, we find ourselves in a moment of both hope and uncertainty. No matter the outcome, this election will leave many, half of the country, feeling a complex mix of emotions—some will feel joy and relief, while others may feel fear and disappointment. These are natural reactions, and they remind us of just how deeply we care about the future of our country and our communities.
Our democracy, complex and sometimes slow-moving, is built on the commitment to ensure every voice is heard. This process may take time, but that time is part of what makes it work–makes it stick. As we navigate this “period of waiting”, we should remember that the work for equality, justice, and liberation doesn’t pause; it’s the shared mission we carry forward each day, regardless of outcomes.
In the days to come, regardless of who ends up in the White House and/or leading the House or Senate, let’s hold space for each other, honor the emotions each of us brings to this moment, and lean into our community for support–for each other.
I, as I have before, promise to continue showing up and speaking out, no matter what comes next, because our focus remains as vital as ever. Together, we can stay grounded, compassionate, and ready for the work ahead.
Stay tuned, stay engaged, and we will work to stay resilient.
In solidarity,
.d.
