According to Mashable Oxford Dictionary’s Word of the Year for 2013 is “Selfie.” Usage in the English language has increased by a whopping 17,000% since last year, according to Oxford.
The #selfie first landed on the scene in 2011 on January 16 and was used by Instagram user Jenn Lee.
Since that time #selfie has been used on Instagram over 57 million times–this according to Instagram. Funny that this is the Oxford word of the year when some might say this is the social-media era’s most loved (and loathed) mode of photographic self-expression.
Do you think they made the right choice?
