How to Improve Your Focus at Work

I don’t know if you are like me…but staying alert and productive all day, every day seems like an insurmountable task. With instant access to distractions like Facebook, NetFlix, Google tools and numerous other social media outlets it surly doesn’t get any easier.

It’s easy to fall into a monotonous 9-to-5 8-to-5 routine, but have you ever considered the expense when productivity slips? You (and your company) will lose out on productivity if you’re less than engaged with your tasks.

If you’re a manager (like me), your employees will likely catch on that you’re not wholly present–unless they think you uber busy staring at the screen (sleeping with your eyes open…who does that!). If you’re an employee, your manager will sooner or later pick up on your laziness (too late).

But productivity is possible. In fact, being attentive to—and even captivated by—your work is a lot easier after a few subtle adjustments to your routine and work style.

  • Be a morning person
  • Set daily goals
  • Eat smart
  • Do crossword puzzles before tossing the newspaper
  • Squash boredom
  • Eat smart
  • Take your power back
