So I like to think I know a little something about social media and social networking…but I must say I was surprised when I stumbled across a Mashable posting about Klout. A fine spin on the idea of clout; the notion that we can, or may have, power and influence over a thing through our actions or words. Klout is an online tool that measures social influence on the net.

“The 3-year-old Klout has already become the industry standard for measuring social media reach and influence, but the company no longer has that market to itself.

The Sarasota, Fla.-based PROskore is testing the waters for a sort of Klout for professionals, though PROskore CEO Bill Jura would likely recoil at the comparison. Jura says that the main difference between PROskore and Klout is that his company takes into account more than just social media.”

Now I am concerned about how much Klout I have on the net. What if I sign up for Klout and then realize I have less Klout than I thought I had. Are you ready to find out your own Klout?
