The world is a buzz with the recent declaration by CNN anchor Anderson Cooper that he is in fact gay.

While Cooper’s sexuality is no surprise, it is the first time Cooper made a public statement about his sexual orientation. Why now then you ask? In an email to Andrew Sullivan of the Daily Beast Cooper states:

“Recently, however, I’ve begun to consider whether the unintended outcomes of maintaining my privacy outweigh personal and professional principle. It’s become clear to me that by remaining silent on certain aspects of my personal life for so long, I have given some the mistaken impression that I am trying to hide something – something that makes me uncomfortable, ashamed or even afraid. This is distressing because it is simply not true.”

Anderson is the second highly visible gay in entertainment to come out in a public fashion this year–first there was Matthew Bomer in February.
Kudos to you Mr. Cooper.

Let’s all: live life loud!
